Yesterday I went with Chris to the 9th BetaGroup conference at ULB, where Belgian startups are allowed to present their projects. Here is a summary of the 5 presentations we saw :
MonAssoc : http://monassoc.com/
Monassoc offers to create ready-to-use webpages dedicated to your association, club, group, giving your members a place to discuss, share, and get information. It’s kinda like a Facebook group or page, only with more options. You have a forum, a blog and a calendar to manage your events. It also has the “more serious” touch, missing in Facebook. No need to be an internet genius to get your association website, 3 steps, and you’re done ! After that, you can manage tabs, pages, photo albums, events. No backend CMS, everything is editable in-line.
MicroPlaza : http://microplaza.com/
You use Twitter? As a twitter fanatic, you certainly know that a lot of tweets are not relevant or useful to your own information. Where Twittscoop filters tweets by popular tags and topics, MicroPlaza filters links from your tweets. These links are listed in a “news-looking” way, with the associated tweets from the people you follow and the tweets from every people twitting about the same topic. You can refine the results by country or tribes (groups of people from your work, or talking about a specific topic. Creating tribes equals filtering people you follow). Microblogging awaits you, just link your twitter account to your MP account. Now you can discover and share relevant information.
Wikifonia : http://wikifonia.org/
Wikifonia is a platform where musicians can publish or download high quality lead sheets. As a composer you can publish your music notations, copyright them and find other music writers to collaborate with. As a visitor, you just have to go through a quick registery to have a full free access to the sheets and download them. You can also share them on Facebook, Delicious, Reddit,…
A big positive feature is that if you don’t want to buy big expansive notations books anymore, you can order a custom book on the website, with only the music notations you need.
Storytlr : http://storytlr.com/
Storytlr reinvents the classic personal page, where sadly only one angle of your life is captured and where your own data is not yours anymore. This platform was build to “centralize you” and stay the owner of all your data. You have a Facebook profile ? Videos on Youtube, pictures on Flickr ? Import all of it and mashup them into stories. You get to chose a template, almost free of branding, CSS customizable, you can add widgets and you can pick your own domain name if you want to. Discover a new way of sharing your life online.
